Standard Wares

My standard wares have a simple, clean aesthetic and take inspiration in their palette and form from high desert landscapes of the US West.

Standard Wares

I use mid-fire stoneware clays from New Mexico Clay (Albuquerque, New Mexico), Rocky Mountain Clay (Denver, Colorado), and Georgie’s Ceramics (Portland, Oregon). I use several different red clay bodies in my work, and on occasion, when it fits the form, b-mix or porcelain white clay bodies. All glazes are developed and tested by me. I hand throw, trim, and glaze each piece in my home studio.

Pots are fired to 2235F (cone 6) in our home studio kiln, Orthos, a magnificent fire-breathing turtle. The standardware pots are made to be used. All glazes are tested for food safety and for use in dishwasher and microwave.
